Air Canada has announced the expansion of its onboard connectivity service by implementing free high-speed Wi-Fi for members of its Aero plan loyalty program on flights within North America, as well as to destinations in Mexico and the Caribbean. Sponsored by Bell, this service will allow passengers to access streaming platforms, video games, and other content on their personal devices throughout the flight.
The Canadian airline claims this initiative positions it as a global leader in in-flight connectivity, offering internet access on 88% of its fleet, with plans to complete installation on the remaining aircraft by early 2026.
“Staying connected has become essential for all travelers. Thanks to our partnership with Bell, we’re excited to offer free Wi-Fi for our Aero plan members,” said Mark Nasr, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Air Canada. “No other airline matches our connectivity offering, either in Canada or worldwide.”

The benefit is now available on flights operated by Air Canada, Air Canada Rouge, and Air Canada Express with CRJ900 aircraft. Installation of the service will soon extend to Embraer E175 and De Havilland Q400 aircraft operating from Toronto City Centre Billy Bishop Airport (YTZ), marking the first time a Q400 aircraft will feature onboard Wi-Fi anywhere in the world.
Bell, for its part, emphasized its commitment to keeping Canadians connected regardless of location. “Since 2023, we’ve proudly sponsored onboard Wi-Fi for Aero plan members, and we’re now taking that experience to the next level,” said Blaik Kirby, President of Consumer and Small Business Group at Bell. “Whether in the air or with our roaming plans in over 230 destinations, Bell helps our customers stay connected at all times.”
To access the service, passengers must ensure their Aero plan number is registered when booking or before checking in. Once onboard, they simply connect to the aircraft’s network and follow the instructions to enjoy free internet. The process also allows for easy device switching.
The launch of free Wi-Fi adds to other recent enhancements to the Air Canada onboard experience, such as premium snacks, complimentary alcoholic beverages on select routes, an expanding entertainment system, and a mobile app with innovative features like real-time baggage tracking. Additionally, the airline is modernizing its network of VIP lounges, with more than 500 new seats being added worldwide by 2025.
